What is FreeSat?
FreeSat is 140 digital TV and radio British channels, HD TV programs subscription-free. No contract, no subscription, After a one-off payment, it’s free forever. Now Available to almost every home in France & Europe. With freesat, favorites like BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2, ITV3, Channel 4, five, More 4 and Film Four are all yours. There’s no need to choose between different packages.
Why use FreeSat and not any digital receiver?
The Freesat box comes with dedicated software which will auto update the channel list so you have nothing to adjust but enjoy the programs! Independent receivers will need to be tuned manually to cope with channel and frequency changes... And not at last the Freesat box gives you an on-screen EPG ( Electronic program guide ) so you can instantly check TV listings.
What do I need to start watching?
FreeSat is a satellite service and is received with a dish or through some very discrete antennas which are not dishes (see the FlatMagic) In the North of France a small 50 cm dish is all you need, but further down in the South you will need an 80 to 110 cm dish to correctly receive the BBC channels.
What about British Radio?
With FreeSat you’ll also get over 30 digital radio stations, so you can listen to live sport, great comedy, music, drama and the latest news with CD quality audio.
Do I need a satellite dish for each digital box in my home?
One satellite dish can feed multiple digital boxes in different rooms or flats so you only need one dish on your home even if you want freesat in more than one room.
Is the dish the same as for Sky Digital?
Yes, If you already have a Sky dish installed it will fork for FreeSat.
Do I need any special cabling to watch in HD?
To watch in HD you will need to connect your HD digital box to your Full HD TV (or at least HD Ready TV ) via an HDMI cable. Freesat HD boxes include an HDMI cable. For Humax HDR You will need a satellite dish with a TWIN LNB and 2 cables for a freesat+ installation so you can watch one channel and record another. All other freesat digital boxes need only one cable.
Why has my freesat+ box got a USB port?
The USB port allows you to store music and photos on the hard
drive,
as well as television recordings. You can transfer music and photos
to your freesat+ box using a USB stick.
It also allows you to transfer television recordings using your USB
stick to your pc or laptop. This can be particularly useful if
you’re
reaching the limit of your hard drive’s capacity. Please note that
some
HD recordings may be protected and cannot be copied onto an external
drive.
